7/26/2023 0 Comments Asus router port forwarding![]() If these default ports for the NAS are used, they conflict with the router, so I have to use alternative ports. The port forwarding is necessary for the NAS external access functionality, and the ports used are chosen because the Asus router reserves several common ports for its own use, e,g, 80, 443, 5000, 5001, 500, 4500. 4 After the router rebooted I was able to log back in again and see my restored settings I went back to the port forwarding configuration and set the port forwarding again. NOTE: When port forwarding is enabled, the ASUS router blocks. So I'd plan to give the Wi-Fi hub the same SSID, passwords and other settings, as the Asus. access specific services provided by a PC in your network. My aim is to configure the Wi-Fi hub as an exact mirror of the Asus router, so that if needed for Talktalk testing, or if the Asus router is faulty (which it was recently), I can do a straight swap, without having to reconfigure either the router, my NAS, or any connected devices, each time. I'm guessing there's something wrong with the router configuration although says that port x is open. In particular what I should select in the Service drop down list on the hub port forwarding settings for each rule shown in the attached file. Local Port: x WAN IP: pppoe1 WAN Port: x I'm able to connect to the SSH server from the local network, using ssh -p x myuser192.168.1.100, but I can't do it using ssh -p x myusermypublicip. Are there any networking experts out there who could advise on how best to replicate the current port forwarding rules, used on my ASUS wi-fi 6 modem/router, on the Talktalk Wi-Fi hub. ![]() On Asus-WRT firmware, it is available under Advanced Settings -> WAN. Under the Basic Config section, select ' FTP ' from the ' Famous Server List ' item. Login and navigate to the section where port forwarding is available. To set up Port Forwarding for a FTP server: Before setting up port forwarding for a FTP server, a PC on the Internet cannot connect to the FTP server. Click the ' Virtual Server/Port Forwarding' tab. It handles the security issue well and gives great HD quality.Hi. Click ' WAN ' on the Advanced Settings menu on the left panel. On a semi-related note - I highly recommend getting a Dropcam for watching a baby at home. For example, you could have a VPN which only allowed members to connect if they had a correct SSL private key which was authorized. The router is directly connected to a modem in bridge mode so theres no double NAT. Ive got an ASUS route, running the latest stock firmware ( 3.0.3013) with mostly default settings. Typically people use SSL keys or other harder to impersonate unique identifying mechanisms to ensure good security. Peterom Newbie 0 Posted Yesterday at 4:12 AM Hello, I have an issue with port forwarding and my ASUS router. what firewall is it though normally if the online port svanner syas it can see it then the firewall is fine. It's just security through obscurity because guessing which MAC to use wouldn't be trivial. but that aside, set a key or super strong password and temporarily remove the firewall rules I wonder if Dest IP/Mask: 192.168.1.100/255.255.255.255 is wrong. The problem with MAC addresses, is that they are readily forged. The best you can do is restrict it to a remote IP, or you could layer on some security higher in the network stack, like in the session, or the application itself. The switches then effectively replicate the data packet and forward it to the destination port until it arrives. ![]() ![]() The ARP table is populated by the conversations a network client makes when interrogating the network when first connected. This is contrary to a L2 only network in which the logic is much simpler, the MAC address is compared with an ARP table, or list of ports and the MAC addresses associated with that port. This means that to the public world IE your remote location you will see the ASUS router as the sources and destination of the conversation, and the remote endpoint will not know what is behind the ASUS router. You shouldnt have any problem forwarding ports using an Asus router. A single Huawei router has been identified with a known. WG client routing is handled by VPN Director - you must configure redirection. These services include WAN remote access, port forwarding, DDNS, VPN server, DMZ, and port triggers. When a L2 packet is handled by a 元 gateway, especially one which applies NAT to it, this will cause the packet to be re-transmitted by the l3 gateway rather than forwarded as is. Implemented a webui for clients, based on the early development UI from Asus. The issue you will have here has to do with L2 and 元 boundaries, and how MAC addresses are exposed.
